91黑料鈥檚 (PCC) Global Scholars recently took the stage to present their capstone projects, marking the culmination of their journey through the Global Distinction program.

Students MJ Smith, Citlalli Martinez, Kirklyn Owen, Raynor, Paige Jay, Eva Peterson, Calleigh Sleger and Carlie White shared reflections from their time in the program including what they learned and their favorite experiences. The students are part of PCC鈥檚 Career and College Promise (CCP) program which has allowed them to earn college credits while in high school. Each of them plans to transfer to a university in North Carolina in the fall.

The Global Distinction program at PCC enhances students’ global awareness through coursework, cultural events and a final presentation. The students鈥 projects reflected diverse global perspectives and demonstrated a deep understanding of international issues and cultures.

鈥淭his group of scholars is special to me because they represent what I think Global Distinction is all about: the mutual intellectual and personal formation that comes from collaborative work,鈥 Dr. ChandIer Fry, PCC English Instructor and Global Distinction advisor said. 鈥淚 feel I benefit from working with them as much as I hope they feel they have benefited in working with me and each other.鈥

Looking ahead, PCC aims to expand the Global Distinction opportunity beyond CCP students to include adult learners and traditional students, encouraging a broader reach for global education on campus.
